ICC World Cup tickets: The ICC World Cup 2023 is in full swing in India, but the attendance at various stadiums across the country has been appalling. In spite of being shown as “sold out” on Bookmyshow, the grounds have been empty for most non-India matches so far in the tournament.
For example, the dramatic opener between New Zealand and England had half the seats empty in spite of two of the best teams in the world facing each other. In the same way, Pakistan vs the Netherlands was also mostly empty. But in contrast, India vs Pakistan tickets have risen in demand extensively but they are still marked as “sold out” on the ticketing platform.
This has resulted in massive fan backlash on social media and veterans of the sport urging higher attendance rates at the tournament. And as a result, the platform has now changed their ticketing status to “coming soon” to signify that more tickets are being arranged.
ICC World Cup tickets update: Bookmyshow to announce 400,000 new tickets
Fans should be on the lookout for India vs Pakistan tickets to be available on Bookmyshow this week, even though it was previously claimed that the game had sold out.
Cricket fans in India have harshly criticised the management of tickets by the BCCI, with a lack of availability one of the main issues. Skimmers and third parties have mainly been blamed for the lack of availability, and the situation will have to change drastically to avoid a commercial failure at the ICC World Cup.
But, the prior mismanagement of ICC World Cup tickets cannot be overlooked with even interested fans unable to find a way to attend games legitimately.
