In a strategic move to chart the course for the future of Indian cricket, the BCCI has officially revealed the lineup for India’s U19 squad that will compete in the tri-series in South Africa and the ICC U19 World Cup 2024. Punjab’s Uday Pratap Saharan, the captain leading the charge in the ongoing U19 Asia Cup 2023, has been chosen to helm the team in the World Cup, showcasing the board’s confidence in his leadership skills.

The tri-series, featuring India, England, and South Africa, is set to kick off on December 29, 2023, with the final scheduled for January 10, 2024. Following this series, the young talents will shift their focus to the ICC U19 World Cup, which commences on January 19 in South Africa.

India’s U19 squad boasts a mix of promising players, including Arshin Kulkarni, Adarsh Singh, Rudra Mayur Patel, Sachin Dhas, Priyanshu Moliya, Musheer Khan, and others. Saumy Kumar Pandey will serve as the vice-captain, adding depth to the leadership structure.

India finds itself in Group A for the U19 World Cup, accompanied by Bangladesh, Ireland, and the USA. The young squad will open their World Cup campaign on January 20, 2024, facing Bangladesh in Bloemfontein. The defending champions aim to continue their dominance, having clinched the title five times and finishing as runners-up thrice in the tournament’s rich history.
