In the first edition of the WTC while 120 points were given for a series in this new points system each team will get a maximum of 12 points for each match.

In this, newly charted points system team standing in the table will be determined on the basis of the percentage of available points won from the total no. of matches each team has played respectively.

The point allotment for the second edition of the WTC is as follows: Points given for a win: 12 Points given for a draw: 4 Points given for a tie: 6 Penalties for slow over rates- one point deducted for every over they fall behind.

The second edition of the World Test Championship will span 2 years starting from August 2021 to June 2023.
