Hyundai Creta SE Launch: The Hyundai Creta, the current leader in the compact SUV space, has been dominating sales for quite some time now. It is not easy to maintain its primacy especially since it faces so many adversaries.
To be ahead, Hyundai is preparing to unveil a new iteration of Creta in the upcoming festive season. The moniker of this new variant has been confirmed through the recent spillage of homologation archives: Creta SE. The festive season shopping may get a boost with design elements peculiar to this edition for better visual differentiation from the standard model.
The All New Hyundai Creta SE
Hyundai has already been raving for a long time now Creta occupies indisputable third place overall in India sales charts, and there is no way anyone can make Hyundai believe it cannot do better. Introducing something fresh around the festive season creates a positive sentiment among buyers, potentially swaying their decision.
The updated Creta SE has been homologated and will likely hit showroom floors in the next few weeks. The “SE” might be short for Sports Edition or Special Edition, or maybe something else. It has been homologated in S(O) and SX(O) trim levels.
As far as the powertrains are concerned, customers will be offered four choices for the Creta SE, including 1.5L NA Petrol MT, 1.5L NA Petrol iVT (intelligent Variable Transmission), and 1.5L Turbo Diesel AT versions. The exclusion of the 1.5L Turbo Petrol engine from this edition, however, the existing 1.5L NA Petrol (113 bhp, 144 Nm) and 1.5L Diesel (113 bhp, 250 Nm) engines are expected to remain unchanged.
Though details of the same are not out yet, expect the Creta SE to feature new interior themes, exterior decals, a dash camera, and various other features over its regular counterpart. The powertrains probably won’t be touched from what’s detailed in the homologation documents.
The Creta also became the best-selling compact SUV in August 2024 by logging sales of 16,762 units — this was comfortably ahead of second-placed Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, with 9,021 units sold. Even while considering the Maruti Suzuki-Toyota partnership selling a combined 15,555 units, the competition gets closer.
