Hyderabad FC Must Pay $115,100 to Lift Ban – Here’s What You Need to Know!

Hyderabad FC, the Indian Super League (ISL) team, has recently been in the news for a breach of contract issue with former player Nestor Gordillo. The club has been banned from signing any new players until they make the payment to Gordillo. According to reports, Hyderabad FC has to pay USD 115,100 as compensation for breach of contract to lift ban without just cause, plus 5% interest p.a. as from 7 July 2020 until the date of effective payment.

2019-20: The club shall pay to the player a total fee (net of Withholding tax) of USD 110,000/·

The issue between Hyderabad FC and Nestor Gordillo dates back to the 2019-20 season, where the club was supposed to pay a total fee (net of Withholding tax) of USD 110,000 to the player. The situation escalated in the 2020-21 season, where the club was supposed to pay a total fee (net of Withholding tax) of USD 145,000, which was to be paid in equal monthly installments. However, the payments were not made on time, and the matter was taken to the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and the FIFA Players’ Status Committee.

The ban on Hyderabad FC has been in place since January 2022, and the club has been unable to sign any new players during the January transfer window. The team has been struggling in the league, and the ban has had a significant impact on their performance. However, the latest reports suggest that the ban will be lifted once the payment to Nestor Gordillo is made.
