Oscar Piastri secured the first F1 win of his career at the 2024 Hungarian GP as Lando Norris finished second to complete a McLaren one-two. Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton completed the podium with a third place finish.
Charles Leclerc finished fourth, while defending world champion Max Verstappen had a rough day on the track as he finished fifth. The Dutchman was involved in a tense battle with Lewis Hamilton, and the pair were also involved in a small collision.

Norris was asked by his team to hand back the lead to Piastri, who fell behind due to McLaren’s pit stop strategy. He belatedly handed the lead back to his teammate on laptop 68 of 70, who had been leading for the majority of the race.
Pierre Gasly was the only one not to finish the race, as his car was retired due to a suspected hydraulic leak.
After finishing with a one-two in qualifying, McLaren performed remarkably well to secure the double in the final race as well. Fans, however, seem divided in opinion over whether Norris should have been allowed to go for the win as per an official poll from F1.
