Heroes fighting before they team up is a Marvel tradition, and Mark Ruffalo seems to be saying the same about Bruce Banner and Peter Parker. After their destructive showdown in *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*, the Hulk actor is dropping hints that the best is yet to come.

## Spider-Man Brand New Day’s Clash

| Detail | What Happened |
| --- | --- |
| **Stars** | Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner) |
| **Trigger** | Sadie Sink’s Jean Grey strips Banner’s inhibitor |
| **Location** | Department of Damage Control, New York |
| **Result** | Savage Hulk returns; Banner ends up in a psychiatric ward |
| **Fallout** | Many injured, DODC headquarters levelled |

## Why Ruffalo’s Tease Matters?

In the film’s “Friends and Foes” featurette, Ruffalo called the meeting “iconic and legendary” in the comics. He said the movie’s version is a teaser for what’s to come with the two characters.

That reads less like a rivalry and more like a promise. Tom Holland added that he has a soft spot for Ruffalo and called fighting the Hulk an “awesome opportunity.”

## A Fight That Feels Like a Setup

Their first real meeting was anything but friendly, and it’s easy to feel for Banner, who woke up asking whether he had hurt anyone. Comics fans know the history. The pair first fought in *Amazing Spider-Man #14*, and again in *Annual #3* when the Avengers sent Spidey to bring the Hulk in.

## Why Secret Wars Looks Like the Perfect Stage?

Here’s the fun theory. *Avengers: Endgame Encore*‘s post-credits scene showed Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom “collecting” Banner from an underground military facility. Meanwhile, *Brand New Day*‘s post-credits scene confirmed Spider-Man is off-world, and many fans suspect Doom took him too.

If both heroes end up in Doom’s prison, an escape together feels natural. Better still, Hulk may be saved for *Avengers: Secret Wars* rather than *Doomsday*, which would give the duo a proper arc on Battleworld, rallying lost heroes into a resistance.
