Hugo Lloris is set to move to the MLS in the January transfer window, ending his spell at Tottenham after 11 years. The Frenchman helped the club solidify their position as a top six club in the Premier League over the past decade, while also helping them reach the Champions League final in 2019.
But after not making a single appearance for the club under Ange Postecoglou this season, he is set to move on to find a new challenge. Spurs have now moved on to Guglielmo Vicario as their first-choice goalkeeper, allowing Lloris to take a step back.
Hugo Lloris to sign for LAFC in January 2024
The goalkeeper’s transfer has been confirmed by transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, and he will be signing a one-year contract with LAFC with the option for another. His contract with Tottenham Hotspur is set to expire at the end of the season, but it seems likely that the transfer will be for free.
With Fraser Forster recognised as the number two keeper under Postecoglou, Lloris was expected to make a move in the summer. He even missed the preseason tour in hopes of a transfer away, but nothing came up for the World Cup winner.
After spending the first half of the season away from the matchday squad, Hugo Lloris will finally take on a new challenge next year, once he has officially completed his transfer to the MLS club.
