At this MWC 2019 in Barcelona, not only smartphones but also various laptops and gadgets have been revealed to the world. And so the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, who already started making laptops and notebooks years back, has refreshed their MateBook series at the show.

The new MateBook 13 and MateBook 14 has been made completely similar to Huawei’s popular MateBook X Pro which was also upgraded at this show. The new MateBook series brings a FullView screen and a top-notch performance.

Design and Display

Both the MateBook 13 and MateBook 14 has been built with an aluminium body strikingly similar to Apple MacBooks. There will be 2 colour options for the laptop namely Mystic Silver and Space Grey.

There are considerably no differences between MateBook 13 and MateBook 14, where the latter sports a Full View display with minimal bezels, measuring just 4.9mm thick, both at the top and sides.

The display of the new MateBook series comes with an aspect ratio of 3:2 and both the MateBook 14 and MateBook 13 support a resolution of up to 2160 x 1440 pixels. As the name suggests the MateBook 13 will have a 13-inch screen and MateBook 14 will have a 14-inch one.

Both of the displays include support for 100% sRGB colour gamut, 1000:1 contrast ratio. You can also choose a 10-point touchscreen option if you want to.

In both these laptops, the webcam is hidden inside the keyboard which accessible by the press of a key. This allows the screen to have a wider aspect ratio and minimal bezels around the corner of the screen.

Huawei MateBook 14 also supports a fingerprint sensor that’s present in the power button itself for one-touch login, with an independent security chip. On the other hand, the MateBook 13 comes equipped with Dolby Atmos for an immersive audio experience.

  • 57.4Wh battery 
  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • Wi-Fi Standard: IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac

These laptops come equipped with Huawei’s SharkFin Fan 2.0 technology for higher air output and enhanced cooling performance. A 65W adapter given with the notebook promises you around 3 hours of usage in under 15 minutes of charge.

Both the MateBook 13 and MateBook 14 feature Huawei’s signature Huawei Share feature for sending and receiving files between any Huawei smartphone and laptop.

The new OneHop feature helps you to send any content simply by tapping a Huawei smartphone to an NFC tag on your laptop. The software even includes Huawei’s Clipboard Sharing feature and a new three-finger touch gesture for taking a screenshot.

The MateBook laptops are a bit premium and classy, so they have been priced higher but cheaper than Apple’s latest MacBooks. The pricing of MateBook 13 and MateBook 14 starts at 999 euros and 1199 euros respectively.
