Huawei Desktop specs leaked: 24 core Kunpeng Platform & Radeon 520 graphics

Huawei is a tech superpower in China and it looks like it wants to change the desktop experience in the country as well. The well-known smartphone maker will be launching Huawei desktop computers in their native country soon.

The leak comes from a Weibo user, and as Gizchina reports, the desktop will feature 24-core Kunpeng platform along with a dedicated graphics card in the form of AMD’s Radeon 520.

The Huawei desktop consists of an internal code of Pangu. The report also says that initially there wi be only one model using the self-developed 24-core Kunpeng platform. Huawei is also said to have put an 8GB notebook memory along with 512GB Samsung SSD & AMD’s Radeon 520 graphics card.

It’s also been speculated that the processor’s multi-core performance is comparable to that of the Intel i9-9900K. Last year, Huawei launched the Kunpeng 920 desktop motherboard which supports all the major components but was available for corporate users only.

That platform featured a quad-core or eight-core ARM processors along with 64GB DDR4-2400 RAM. Huawei can easily integrate any OS on the platform based ARM processors. This Huawei desktop will be exclusive for government and enterprise customers only. It is also reported that the desktop will be running on the domestic UOS system and cannot install Windows.

Much like any other OEM desktop, this one will also not support any kind of expansion. So it will not support other types of graphics cards, and even the CPU motherboard cannot be removed.

Huawei will also be equipping the desktop with a 23.8-inch display which has a 70% NTSC color gamut and a standard FHD resolution. Much like other commercial desktops, this one too will feature three USB-A and one USB-C ports and a headset port on the front.

There will also be an optical drive on the front while for the rear I/O panel there will be four USB-A interfaces, a network cable interface, and a VGA interface. Huawei is said to be launching a desktop PC for 7500 yuan ($1061) on a ‘mysterious platform’. The CPU model is said to be the Huawei Kunpeng 920 2249K, which will likely be soldered directly into the motherboard.

It will be paired with a 16GB DDR4 memory and a 256GB SSD. The motherboard will feature four memory slots with up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM. The desktop will also come with a PCIe 4.0 graphics card slot. On the other hand, the graphics card will be the Yeston RX 550 with the operating system being UOS.
