The new HP Elite Dragonfly is the world's lightest business convertible laptop

According to Canalys’s latest report, the top Notebook vendor in Europe for the Q1 2020 was HP, grabbing a market share of 26.4%, which is almost one fourth of the total notebook sales in Europe, which is great in fact, in spite of the COVID-19 affect.

The global pandemic has slowed down every sector so far and in Q1 2020, most of the companies have seen decreased sales. Likewise, we see HP having 8% decrease in market share on a YoY basis, although it seems the brand as got some competition from Lenovo and Dell as they have grown on YoY basis.

💻@HP was the top-performing vendor in the European #notebook market in Q1 2020, with a market share of 26.4%. @Lenovo was fractionally behind followed by @Dell. Both posted positive y-on-y growth of 5% and 6% respectively. #Canalys#PCmarket pic.twitter.com/13GivekRRt

As the work-from-home trend is now active, online sales have increased and office requirements including notebook sales have seen a spike for the last couple of months as well. This might have helped Lenovo and Dell to gain 5% and 6% market share on a YoY basis, with Lenovo grabbing 26% market share, just missing the top spot by a fraction and Dell with just 13% share.

It might even be possible their products are being liked more by customers considering the fact that both the brands have strong business-oriented laptops including Lenovo’s ThinkBook, ThinkPad series or Dell’s newer XPS 13, 15 & 17 series with the latest hardware. Until the exact sales figure of the notebooks aren’t revealed it’s hard to say the exact reason.

Overall, PC sales might see a decline but as this work-from-home trend is to continue throughout the year 2020, the notebook sales might not be that much affected, most of which will be better known in Q2’s report as in Q1 we had some active months before lockdown.
