HP has launched quite a few new laptops in 2020 and the ProBook 455 G7 is more targeted towards business customers and professionals. So, they launched the Intel versions first with Comet Lake CPUs and next the Ryzen 4000U powered variants as well.
The HP ProBook 455 G7 with Ryzen 7 4700U, 16GB RAM & 256 GB SSD was available back in May on Amazon. Notebookcheck has recently compared the Ryzen variant of the laptop with the Intel variant and we see a major difference in real-world performance. Also, do note that Intel variants are costlier than the Ryzen ones. Both the AMD Ryzen 7 4700U and Intel Core i7-10510U were compared simultaneously.
Obviously, AMD has an edge over Intel CPUs on the multi-threaded performance, and in CineBench R20, the Ryzen 7 4700U variant is about 118 to 147% faster than the Core i7-10510U. They say the results they got are even after adjusting for performance throttling although both of the processors have the same number of simultaneous threads. The results they got are based out of high-performance mode.Â
In CineBench R20 single-core performance, the Core i7-10510U variant scores 396 points while the Ryzen 7 4700U variant scores 462 points, so there also the AMD Zen 2 architecture makes a huge impact. In the graphics test, the integrated Radeon RX Vega 7 graphics is 2x faster than the Intel UHD Graphics 620 graphics but the discrete NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics is almost 42% faster.

For connectivity, you have Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 5, and Wi-Fi and it comes with Windows 10 Pro. Finally, it sports a modest 3-cell 45Wh Li-ion battery and the laptop has around 2Kg weight making it ideal to carry anywhere as well.Â
