HP ProBook 445 G9 and ProBook 455 G9 combine AMD Barcelo-U with 4G LTE

The ProBook 445 G9 and ProBook 455 G9 are two new business laptops from HP that have AMD processors. The new ProBook 405 Series G9 laptops are powered by AMD Barcelo-U 15 W processors and come with a number of storage and memory combinations, as well as security features such as HP Wolf Security for Business, which makes remote IT monitoring easier.

HP notebooks with AMD Barcelo-U processors were leaked in November, and today, at CES 2022, the same products will be officially unveiled. Aside from the Pro x360 435 G9, HP will also release two clamshell models, the ProBook 445 G9 and the ProBook 455 G9.

Both the ProBook 445 G9 and the ProBook 455 G9 have comparable characteristics, with the exception of the displays. The 14-inch 16:9 display on the ProBook 445 G9 is available in a variety of resolutions, from HD TN 250-nit panels to FHD IPS 1000-nit panels with 100 percent sRGB coverage. HP SureView Reflect and HP Eye Ease are included with the 1000-nit option for increased privacy and minimal blue light emissions, respectively.

In contrast, the ProBook 455 G9 has a 15.6-inch display with only 400 nits of brightness. Touch displays are also available on the ProBook 445 G9 and ProBook 455 G9, but only at a brightness of 250 nits.

Both laptops have AMD’s latest 15 W Barcelo-U processors, dual-channel DDR4-3200 memory up to 32 GB, and NVMe SSD options up to 1 TB. Optional Intel XMM 7560 R+ LTE WWAN for mobile connectivity is available on the ProBook 445 G9 and ProBook 455 G9.

The internals are powered by a 3-cell battery rated at 42.75 Whr or 51.3 Whr (depending on the SKU). HP Fast Charge allows the battery to be charged to 50% capacity in 30 minutes. Given its expected use case in mixed work contexts, the ProBook 405 Series G9 places a high value on security.

Buyers can add an optional IR camera or a fingerprint scanner to the ProBook 445 G9 and ProBook 455 G9, and HP Wolf Security for Business can help harden security even more.

For greater durability, the laptops are stated to have passed MIL-STD 810H tests. HP’s ProBook 445 G9 and ProBook 455 G9 will be available in late January for US$849.
