A move to Eintracht Frankfurt can be ruled out for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, as per the Director, Markus Krösche, who has confirmed that the deal won’t happen.
Aouar is out of contract at the end of the season, and will not be renewing. Which means that he can join a club of his choosing in the summer. And with Frankfurt now out of the race, Italian side Roma now have a clear shot at recruiting the player.
Houssem Aouar inching closer to Roma with Eintracht Frankfurt out of the race
The 24-year-old has attracted interest from AC Milan and Napoli in Italy. But, Roma are currently leading the race to sign him. They have offered him a five-year deal with a salary worth €2.8 million per season without bonuses. He is yet to respond to their offer, but talks are progressing well between the two parties as things stand.
Spanish side Real Betis are also keeping tabs on the situation, but haven’t advanced in negotiations as of yet. Roma have not gotten the deal over the line yet, but will need to move fast in order to avoid competition from their Serie A rivals.
The Giallorossi are currently third in the table and are expected to play Champions League football next season. They are also in the quarter finals of the Europa League, and could progress into the last four if they can overturn the 1-0 deficit against Feyenoord. If they are able to at least finish in the top four, it would be a huge boost to their finances and would help them attract some of the top talents in the world, including Houssem Aouar.
