Houssem Aouar is in talks with Roma to join them as a free agent when his contract expires at the end of June. There are no plans for him to renew with Lyon, which means he will be taking on a new challenge starting next season.

The Italian side have made a five-year offer to the midfielder, but they are yet to receive confirmation from his side. However, they are not the only ones trying to sign the player in the summer.

Houssem Aouar yet to decide next club as free transfer draws closer

Real Betis and Eintracht Frankfurt are the two other clubs that are keeping tabs on the situation. They have also had talks with the player, but haven’t been able to convince him just yet. As things stand, Roma’s proposal is the best one, worth €2.8 million per season plus bonuses and the player could accept it.

Having a player with the skills and quality that Houssem Aouar brings to the table could be a major boost for Roma next season. They are battling for a place in the Champions League and could return to Europe’s top flight if they can finish in the top four. However, it is a tough battle for the UCL spots at the top.

Aouar was once scouted by the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea with both clubs keen on a transfer. But, nothing materialised with either club and he is now expected to leave Lyon for free.
