The popular PlayStation Studios Housemarque’s latest game would not be going to be the returning sequel according to the comments that come from studio managing director Ilari Kuittinen, VentureBeat reports.
In a current interview with the journalists at last week’s DICE Awards, Housemarque’s leaders had spoken at length about projects and the studio’s relationship to Play Stations at that time while the publisher is increasing focus on the live-service games.
Kuttian said, “ We are one of the very last dinosaurs making arcade games. Nex Machina, a few years ago was very much a shoot-em-up game in the style of the coin-ops from the ’80s. that’s sort of a clue but it’s interesting. We have been thinking about that. We had our stint working on multiplayer games because a few years back it seemed like you needed to have some kind of multiplayer experience. We tried that, and we really did not do it as well. But it’s early days with us starting a new gamer, a new IP, concerting it out. We will see what comes with that.”
It is reported that the Returnal director Harry Krueger contained that Housemarque’s is “trying to hold onto that identity” as a studio focused on arcadey games and that multiple genres can coexist.
Krueger also said, “ There can be live service games, multiplayer games, games with many different sensibilities,” he also said, ” Returnal is just another voice. At this stage, we are quite proud of what we accomplished with Returnal and we are also very excited to pursue that same trajectory as a company.”
The Returnal took home the DICE Award for the outstanding achievement in musical composition, outstanding achievement in audio design, and was also nominated for the outstanding achievement in the technical achievement, action game of the year, and there is the general fame of the year. It has been certainly meriting the awards and nominations.
It has been sounded like Housemarque may not come back to Returnal in the entire game as a tweet from last November sparked the speculation that they would be getting some sort of DLC in the future.
It means that Sony’s acquisition of Destiny 2 developer Bungie also had such big implications for PlayStation’s player’s games that should not be going anywhere.
A big thanks for the source.
