Honor has just announced a new foldable phone in China. It is the Honor V Purse, which was introduced earlier this month at IFA in Berlin. Honor promotes the V Purse as an electrical device that also functions as a fashion piece, providing “unlimited opportunities for self-expression.” The disadvantage is that it is not a functional purse, which means you cannot store anything within it.

The Honor V Purse is an outward folding phone as opposed to the usual inward folding phones. On the back panel, there is a wraparound display. When folded, it is only 8.6mm thick, similar to ordinary flat smartphones. According to the firm, the hinge is strong and can resist 400,000 folds. To personalize the phone’s appearance, it comes with replaceable straps and chains. For the straps, the brand chose vegan leather.

The Honor V Purse has a 6.45-inch primary screen with a 23481088 pixel resolution that expands to 7.7 inches with a 23482016 pixel resolution when unfurled.

Both displays have a flexible OLED panel with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits. The smartphone has an Always-on display with a variety of dynamic and interchangeable backgrounds that may be customized to match the user’s attire. Honor collaborated with a number of artists to create the AOD styles. This means that the device can be made to look like a purse.

The Honor V Purse features a dual back camera arrangement with a 50MP main sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens. There is an 8MP selfie camera on the front.

The Honor V Purse is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G CPU. It has 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. It comes with a 4,500mAh battery with 35W rapid charging capabilities and runs on MagicOS 7.1, based on Android T.

The Honor V Purse starts at CNY 5,999 for the 16GB + 256GB configuration, and CNY 6,599 for the 16GB + 512GB configuration. It will be available in limited quantities, with pre-orders beginning today and sales beginning September 26. The device is available in Camellia Gold, Glacier Blue, and Elegant Black.
