Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) unveiled the CB300F flex-fuel motorcycle at an event in Brazil which represents a crucial step ahead for India’s speedy move towards cleaner mobility solutions.
Designed to be the first-ever 300cc flex-fuel motorcycle in India, a country where fuel economy has become a major issue ever since ethanol became cheaper than gasoline, the Honda CB300F targets urban commuters looking for low-emission ways of getting around.
The All New 2024 CB300F Flex-Fuel
In this context, India has been making a significant headway in ethanol blending, 5% (2003) to 10 % (2022), with an aspirational target towards E-20 by 2025. The focus on flex-fuel options helps in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and brings economic benefits, such as bolstering the oil import bill and hedging demand for agricultural commodities. It is a cleaner, renewable fuel that supports the shift away from traditional fossil fuels and contributes to sustainable development.
The 2024 Honda CB300F flex-fuel motorbike features a 293.52cc, oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine that is able to run on an E85 fuel blend (85% ethanol and 15% gasoline) It is capable of churning a maximum power output of 18.3 kW and it offers a peak torque of 25.9 Nm, which are slightly higher levels compared to the current CB300F. It features a 6-speed gearbox which is now equipped with an assist and slipper clutch, for smooth changes in gear even during aggressive downshifting working to prevent the rear wheel from locking up.
Prioritizing rider safety and handling, the CB300F is equipped with disc brakes at both ends—276mm at the front and 220mm at the rear—along with dual-channel ABS. Standard features include Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) for improved traction across a range of road conditions. The suspension duties are carried out by gold color USD front forks and a 5-step adjustable rear mono-shock absorber for a jerk-free ride while it has all-LED lighting at both ends ensuring better safety with excellent visibility.
It also features a fully digital instrument cluster with 5-level brightness adjustment, which shows the rider his speed, odometer readings, and tacho as well as fuel gauge twin trip meters gear position indicator all adjustable full clock. An Intelligent Ethanol Indicator warns the rider if the fuel exceeds 85% ethanol content.
