HMD Skyline Launched in India: Advanced Camera, Easy Repair Features, and 12GB RAM at ₹35,999

HMD, the company behind Nokia-branded phones in recent times has introduced a smartphone in India, the HMD Skyline. This new device highlights ease of repair and advanced camera features. It features a rear camera system that consists of a 108MP OIS main sensor, 50MP telephoto lens, and 13MP ultra-wide lens and is supported by easy-to-service Gen2 reparability.

The HMD Skyline has been priced at ₹35,999 and will be sold in a single 12GB+256GB configuration. It will be available for purchase starting September 17 on Amazon and HMD’s website. For the launch promotion, you will get a 33W Type-C fast charger for free. One of the key features of the HMD Skyline is its Gen2 Repairability, which simplifies at-home repairs. Removal of the back cover requires unscrewing a single screw and gives access to internal components, such as display cables and screws. Also, the battery itself has also been engineered for ease of replacement.

There’s also a Custom Button, which can be used to program different functions — like launching a game or chatting to an AI bot — similar to the Apple Action Button. The HMD Skyline features a pOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and HDR10 support, paired with stereo speakers. It is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset and comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

The device runs on Android 14 and offers two years of OS upgrades and three years of security updates. On the camera front, it has a 108MP primary sensor with OIS, accompanied by a 50MP telephoto lens, a 13MP ultra-wide shooter on the back, and a 50MP selfie snapper. Camera features include Capture Fusion, 4x Optical Zoom, and Portrait Mode with natural bokeh and selfie gestures.

The phone packs a 4,600mAh battery that supports Qi2 wireless charging and is equipped with a few other more typical specs including Bluetooth 5.2, various Wi-Fi standards, NFC support, and dual-SIM support as well. On the audio front as well, the HMD Skyline packs in stereo speakers with Qualcomm aptX Adaptive and OZO Audio, and is IP54 splash-proof and dust-resistant.
