East Bengal have re-signed Hira Mondal on a one-year contract, and are planning to field him in their Calcutta Football League (CFL) squad primarily. Depending on how he performs in the local league, he could be pushed up to the ISL squad.
The Red and Golds have been quite active in the transfer market, and have recruited Provat Lakra to reinforce their left-back position. Similarly, they have also tied down Nishu Kumar and Mohammed Rakip with new contracts, making Mondal surplus to requirements for the time being.

The 27-year-old most recently played for NorthEast United, but barely made any appearances for them this past season. His most recent spell with East Bengal came in 2021-22, before he moved on to Bengaluru FC and won the 22/23 Durand Cup with the Blues.
Hira Mondal also played for East Bengal from 2018-2019, after which he played for Mohammedan Sporting. All in all, he has played 16 games for the Red and Golds, and has appeared in 23 ISL games.
His experience across the country will surely make him a valuable addition to their CFL team as they look to strengthen their second squad even further.
Where did East Bengal finish in CFL this past season?
Third, behind Mohammedan Sporting and Diamond Harbour.
