Tottenham Hotspur’s star Heung-Min Son has established himself as one of the best Asians to play in the European top flight. The 28-year-old winger joined Tottenham Hotspur in 2015 and has played 256 games for them and scored 101 goals for the London side.

Son is also one of the key players for his National team. The South Korean international has played 89 games for his country and scored 26 goals. But the journey was started almost a decade ago.

18th January 2011 is one of the memorable days for the South Korean winger. Heung-Min Son scored his first international goal on this day 10 years ago against India in the AFC Asian Cup group game in Doha.

This was not a memorable outing for the Blue Tigers as they were beaten by South Korea by 4-1. Ji Dong-won scored a brace while Koo Ja-Cheol and Son completing the scoring for the South Koreans. Sunil Chhetri scored the consolation goal for India from a penalty. This match was the last competitive appearance for former Indian captain Bhaichung Bhutia.

However, since then Heung-Min Son is considered the icon of his country. After spending 3 years with Hamburger SV he moved to Bayer Leverkusen in 2013. In 2015 he moved to Tottenham Hotspur and has been tearing it apart since then.

Son is the first Asian player to score 50 goals in the Premier League and is also the highest-ranked Asian to have featured in the Ballon d’Or lists.
