If you want a clinical finisher in the team, who will be your first pick? Lionel Messi? Cristiano Ronaldo? Or you go for Robert Lewandowski or Harry Kane? But there is a shocking name which is the most clinical finisher in the world since 2016. He is Tottenham Hotspur star, Heung-Min Son.

The South Korean international is ahead of Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo, and Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski in terms of finishing since 2016. According to stats from understat.com, Son has consistently outperformed his expected goals [xG]. The Tottenham star has scored 44 percent above his xG since August 2016, a period in which he’s netted 61 times. 

Son’s club teammate and England skipper Harry Kane are the second in the list followed by FC Barcelona and Argentina skipper Lionel Messi in the 3rd. Harry Kane has scored 104 goals at 21.31 percent above his xG. Whereas, Lionel Messi has netted an astonishing 139 goals at 21.31 percent above xG.

Lazio striker, Ciro Immobile is the 4th in the list with 113 goals at 21.14 percent above his xG and Liverpool’s Sadio Mane is 5th with 69 goals at 16.36 percent above his xG.

Heung-Min Son is in excellent form in the last couple of seasons. He has emerged as one of the best players of the Premier League. Tottenham is currently trying to challenge for the title under Jose Mourinho. Son is one of the key players for Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspurs.

The 28-year-old is in his 6th season with the London side and scored 101 goals in 254 games. He was the ‘Puskas Award’ winner last year for his excellent solo goal against West Ham United.
