In a chat with BBC Asian Network, **Abhishek Bachchan** described [Shah Rukh Khan](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shah_Rukh_Khan) as an elder-brother figure. According to Abhishek, the superstar has backed him in a personal way for years, and that support continues in their upcoming film *King*.

## The Cricket Sundays

Long before Abhishek entered Bollywood, he spent Sundays at Uday Chopra’s house playing cricket with Uday, Sikander Kher and Hrithik Roshan. Shah Rukh would sometimes join in. Abhishek says he has immense love and respect for him.

## The Advice That Stuck

After those games, the young actors would talk films and acting with SRK. One day Abhishek asked him which of his films was his favorite. Shah Rukh’s answer was the one he’s working on right now. His reasoning was simple: if the current film isn’t your favorite, there’s little point in making it.

Abhishek says the lesson stayed with him: the project you’re doing today has to be your favorite, and the past is behind you.

## Why This Story Resonates

**Support beyond words.** Abhishek says Shah Rukh has taken personal responsibility for his career several times, including on *King*. That’s a notable thing for a co-star to say.

**A bond older than fame.** Their friendship dates back to before Abhishek’s film career, which gives their reunion more weight than a typical casting announcement.

**Timeless advice.** Giving your full focus to the project in front of you is a good rule for actors and for anyone else.
