Google has unveiled Google Play’s Best of 2021 in recognition of India’s expanding proficiency in-app and gaming technology (obviously all of them in the Android ecosystem). Google has added three new categories to the list for the current year, in addition to the standard ones.
But class, an app that enables cohort-based learning, has been named the ‘Best App of 2021.’ Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), a battle royale game, has been named the ‘Best Game of 2021.’ Based on user voting, the audio app Clubhouse was named the Users’ Choice App of 2021.
“This year, we saw a distinctive rise in e-learning, with many winners finding creative ways to help India learn a range of skills online,” Google said in a blogpost.
The winners were chosen from throughout the developer ecosystem to demonstrate that a great app or game can come from anyone, whether you’re a major or growing developer, according to the announcement.
But the class was named the Best App of the Year by Google, which stated that it “reiterated the growth of a digital learning culture in India, fuelled by unique localized solutions.”
Google claimed of Clubhouse, the Users’ Choice app of the year because it “showcased India’s burgeoning affinity for voice and audio-based platforms.”
Gaming continued to gain significant interest in India, with many across the country enjoying a range of imaginative gaming experiences. “Battlegrounds Mobile India, a game developed specifically for India, claimed the prize of the Best Game of the year in the country, while Garena Free Fire MAX was the Users’ Choice pick,” Google said.
Health and well-being were other topics of discussion. Jumping Minds, Evolve, being, SARVA, and Evergreen Club were among the winners. These applications sparked innovation to assist individuals in better managing their mental health and well-being.
This year, Google added three new categories and extended the awards to include applications for tablets and Wear OS, as well as games on tablets, to promote innovation throughout Google Play.
