Here’s the list of all the Olympic Medal winners for India at the Tokyo Olympics 2020

India have made their best-ever record at the Olympics as the Indian contingent won a total of 7 medals at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. They won 1 Gold Medal, 2 Silver Medals and 4 Bronze Medals.

So here we take a look at all the Olympic Medal winners for India at the Tokyo Olympics 2020:

1. Neeraj Chopra

Medal won: Gold

Event: Men’s Javelin throw

Neeraj Chopra has done exceptionally as he handed India its first Gold Medal at the Tokyo Olympics. He became the second individual gold medallist of the country after Abhinav Bindra. He threw a distance of 87.58m to pick the gold medal to clinch India’s first medal in track and field events since 1900.

2. Mirabai Chanu

Medal won: Silver

Event: Women’s Weightlifting 49 kg

Mirabai Chanu won the medal for Indian in the Tokyo Olympics 2020. She won the silver medal in the Women’s weightlifting 49kg category. She lifted 202 kg in total (87 kg in snatch and 115kg in clean and jerk) in her four successful attempts in the competition. Mirabai Chanu became the second Indian weightlifter to win an Olympic medal after Karnam Malleswari. Malleswari won the bronze medal in the 69kg category at the 2000 Sydney Games.

3. Ravi Kumar Dahiya

Medal won: Silver

Event: Men’s Wrestling 57 kg

Ravi Kumar Dahiya is the second Indian to play in a gold medal wrestling match after Sushil Kumar. Dahiya won the Silver medal in his first Olympic campaign.

4. PV Sindhu

Medal won: Bronze

Event: Women’s Badminton Singles

After Sushil Kumar, PV Sindhu became the second Indian athlete and the first Indian female athlete to win more than one medal at the Olympics. Sushil achieved this feat in 2008 and 2012. The 26-year-old clinched the bronze medal by beating Bing Jiao 21-13, 21-15.

5. Lovlina Borgohain

Medal won: Bronze

Event: Women’s Boxing welterweight

Lovlina Borgohain won the Bronze medal in her debut Olympics campaign. She became the third Indian boxer to win an Olympics medal after Vijender Singh and Mary Kom.

6. Bajrang Punia

Medal won: Bronze

Event: Men’s freestyle 65kg

Bajrang Punia won the Bronze medal despite a knee injury. He defeated Kazakhstan’s Daulet Niyazbekov in a one-sided battle to clinch the third position.

7. Indian Men’s Hockey team

Medal won: Bronze

Event: Men’s Hockey

After a long wait of 41 years, the Indian Men’s Hockey Team finally won an Olympic medal. The Indian team won the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics which was their first medal since 1980.
