The Epic Games Store’s next freebie will be Behaviour Interactive’s Dead by Daylight, the world’s greatest serial killer simulator. I mean, it’s difficult to argue with the word “free” for anything, but this is one of the greatest asymmetrical multiplayer experiences out there: a game of cat-and-mouse where you’ll receive some of the scariest thrills of your life and, when everything goes perfectly, the total pleasure of escape.
No Man’s Sky may attract more attention, but the way Dead by Daylight has evolved since its release is astonishing.
“In the five years since Behaviour Interactive released Dead by Daylight on Steam, the game has developed razor-sharp mechanical intrigue, an ultra-complex web of versatile builds and strategies, and a diverse suite of characters, each equipped with relative strengths and weaknesses. I play DBD regularly without being overly engaged since it’s so much fun to walk in with a small group of friends and attempt to outwit the murderer. The game’s intricacy is true, but it may also be overstated: at its core, this is a game about hiding from a giant terrible killer, or becoming the murderer and attempting to track down those clever rats.
It also gives old males plenty of opportunities to be poisonous.
Dead by Daylight will be available on the Epic Games Store on December 2nd, plus a plethora of DLC, and will be free until December 9th.
Along with it comes While True: learn(), a puzzle game in which one must reportedly create a cat-to-human voice recognition system using visual programming. That may be a wonderful option if you’ve had enough of being slaughtered by Pyramid Head.
