After a long-drawn transfer saga, Chelsea are finally set to sign Wesley Fofana from Leicester City. The two clubs have finally reached an agreement, with the fee expected to be £75 million, including add-ons.

The base fee is expected to be around £70 million, and includes difficult add-ons. If these are achieved, Fofana will become the most expensive centre-back in the Premier League. The 21-year-old was keen on joining the West London side, and is now on his way to complete the move.

The centre-back was a top target for Chelsea throughout the transfer window. But, Leicester City always maintained that the player was not for sale. He had only recently signed a new contract with the Foxes, after a lengthy absence due to his ACL injury. But, he decided to move on after Chelsea showed interest in signing him.

Brendan Rodgers did not select him for Leicester’s game against Southampton last weekend. And he won’t be involved in the game between Chelsea and Leicester this weekend either.

The Londoners are now preparing the medicals for Wesley Fofana, and will make the transfer official in the coming days. He will be signing a six-year deal until 2028, and is viewed as a long-term solution for the defense.

But with his arrival, Trevoh Chalobah will be leaving on loan to either of AC Milan, Inter Milan or RB Leipzig.
