Manchester United have reached an agreement with Ajax for the signing of Antony. The final bid accepted is worth €100 million including add-ons. The player will travel to England soon to complete the medicals and be officially presented as a new player for the Red Devils.
The deal struck between the two clubs is worth €95 million upfront, and €5 million in add-ons. This makes the player one of the most expensive sales in the history of the Eredivisie.
Antony to join Manchester United after long-drawn transfer saga
The Brazilian recently spoke out in an interview that he wanted to leave Ajax for months. He had communicated his desire to move on months ago, and had also told the club that he wanted to be a record sale for them.
But, after several bids were rejected, the situation got more tumultuous which ultimately led to the interview. The contracts for the move are being prepared by the two sets of lawyers. Antony will be signing a contract with Manchester United until 2027, with the option to extend until 2028.
The paperwork is expected to be completed today, with personal terms agreed long ago.
Ajax are considering a return for Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech to replace Antony this late in the transfer window. With the sale finalised, they are now planning to move fast for their former player.
