Erling Haaland has been breaking records ever since arriving at Manchester City. He has already become the player with the most goals in a single top flight season, at 35. He has also become the player with the most goals across all competitions in the Premier League era.
However, there are still a few records that the Norwegian beast can break this season. And the ones that are still left are quite crazy to achieve given that there are only seven matches at best remaining in the season.
Records that Erling Haaland can still break in 22/23
Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of scoring 17 Champions League goals in a single season, which he set in 2013/14 is still up for grabs. Haaland has scored 12 this season, after netting five against RB Leipzig, and has three games if they can reach the final to score five. Certainly not impossible, considering the man involved, but certainly difficult.
The record for most hat-tricks in one season is also up for grabs, with Alan Shearer’s record of five in 1995/96 still unmatched. Erling Haaland has four to his name so far, and could equal the legendary forward with one more if he can pull it off.
However, Everton legend Dixie Dean’s tally of 63 in all competitions in 1927/28 might still elude the 22-year-old. He currently has 51 to his name, and will have to score two goals per game to break this one.
