Black Myth: Wukong is an upcoming action role-playing game by Chinese indie developer Game Science, based on the classical 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West.
The upcoming Soulslike based video game, coming from the developer Game Science, Black Myth: Wukong is a gorgeous upcoming game that is based on the story of Journey to the West.
The game is in development based on Unreal Engine 5 along with support from Epic Games and Nvidia. The latest trailer provides us an idea of how the game looks like.
During the trailer, we get a glimpse of an ability that allows Wukong to transform into a golden cicada to traverse the world and evade enemy detection. Opponents appear to range from small groups of anthropomorphic monkeys, tigers, and foxes to massive armies (a la Dynasty Warrior) which Wukong must defeat all by himself.
Initially, the developer behind the studio, Game Science, showed off the game designed on the Unreal Engine 4 game, however, the developer decided to make a switch to Unreal Engine 5 this year.
Both Epic Games and Nvidia are providing support with that switch, and it also announced that they will support 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, raytracing, and Nvidia DLSS upon launch.
the first trailer of the Black Myth: Wukong trailer became incredibly popular and the trailer garnered tens of millions of views on YouTube within its first days of release. However, since then the folks behind the title had been very quiet with the game’s details.
Wukong possesses some abilities including:
- Shapeshifting into different people, animals, and objects
- Cloning himself or various forms of himself
- Cloud somersaulting
- An incredible leaping ability allowing him to leap 108,000 li (or over 33,000 miles) at a time
- Weather manipulation
- Spells to control gods and spirits
- Various forms of armed and unarmed martial arts combat
- A special breathing method that grants him immortality
Roll forward to recent times, the latest trailer of the game offers a lot more than we’d previously seen. The trailer reveals new abilities, visual effects, bosses, and story clues.
For now, there is no release date offered by the studio and we still have no idea which platforms will the game will support.
