If you’ve been holding your breath for Hera Pheri 3, it’s time to exhale — and not with relief. Akshay Kumar has finally broken his silence on one of Bollywood’s most eagerly awaited sequels, and the update is as disappointing as it gets. In a candid chat with Shubhankar Mishra, the actor-producer admitted that the film is firmly on hold, and not just for a few months.

The beloved [Hera Pheri franchise](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hera_Pheri_(film_series)), which launched in 2000 and became one of Hindi cinema’s greatest comedic legacies, has been stuck in development hell for years now — and it’s getting messier by the day.

### What Did Akshay Kumar Actually Say?

Akshay didn’t mince words. He confirmed that Hera Pheri 3 is not happening anytime soon, that the issues plaguing the project haven’t been resolved, and that even he is shocked by the situation. He reportedly joked that he only hopes the film gets made before everyone involved grows too old — a line that was funny on the surface but carried a very real undercurrent of frustration.

### The Timeline of Trouble — What’s Gone Wrong?

| Event | What Happened |
| --- | --- |
| Initial Announcement | Director Priyadarshan confirmed Hera Pheri 3 |
| Paresh Rawal’s Exit | He announced his departure, citing reasons other than creative differences |
| Legal Notice | Akshay Kumar’s production house sent Paresh Rawal a legal notice demanding damages |
| Welcome To The Jungle | Akshay, Paresh & Suniel worked together — but HP3 still stalled |
| April 2026 | Akshay confirms: not happening for at least a year |

### Why Does This Hurt So Much?

Honestly? Because Hera Pheri isn’t just a franchise — it’s a feeling. Raju, Shyam, and Babu Bhai are characters that generations have grown up watching. The fact that behind-the-scenes disputes and unresolved issues are keeping this film from the audience feels like a personal loss for millions of fans.

Akshay did clarify that the friction between him, Paresh Rawal, and Suniel Shetty isn’t the core problem — after all, they all appeared together in Welcome To The Jungle. The real issues, whatever they are, clearly run deeper.
