Known in the gaming world as ‘peshemak7,’ Kommu finds himself in Group D for the initial stage of the Global Esports Games. He’ll be competing against formidable eFootball players from Brazil, Iran, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Sri Lanka, and Uruguay. The group stage games, scheduled for December 13, will follow a Round Robin Best-of-3 format where 28 players will compete across four groups. In anticipation of the group stage, Hemanth Kommu shared, “I am eager to face some of the world’s top eFootball athletes once more. The competition will be fierce, but I am prepared to give it everything I’ve got. My strategy will revolve around intelligence, adaptability, and maintaining composure under pressure. Since each opponent brings a unique style of gameplay, I have devised various tactics based on the flow of the game. I’m grateful to ESFI for their support and I aim to make India proud by hopefully securing a medal.”

Kommu, an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), earned his spot in the qualifiers after winning the National Esports Championships 2023, organized by the Esports Federation of India (ESFI) earlier this year. His journey was punctuated by remarkable victories against strong opponents from Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.

“Hemanth has consistently demonstrated his abilities in eFootball 2023, making a significant impact with his performances. We have faith in his strategic acumen and commitment, and believe he will excel on the global stage. The Esports Federation of India (ESFI) is proud to support Hemanth, and we wish him all the best. We look forward to seeing India’s flag flying high in Riyadh and in the world of Esports,” said Mr. Lokesh Suji, Director of ESFI and Vice-President of the Asian Esports Federation.

Artsmith-Concepts & Visions, one of India’s leading sports and Esports communication agencies, will continue its role as the official communication partner for the Esports Federation of India.

The Global Esports Games 2023, organized by the Saudi Esports Federation (SEF) and presented by the Global Esports Federation (GEF), will take place in Riyadh, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from December 12–16, 2023. This international, multi-title eSports competition will feature four major titles: DOTA 2, Street Fighter 6, eFootball 2024, and PUBG Mobile, and host over 250 athletes from more than 50 nations and territories worldwide.
