## What Does the Trailer Show?

The trailer opens with a young Harry Potter being told by his Aunt Petunia, “You are a normal boy, and you’re going to start acting like one” — before his Hogwarts letter changes everything forever.

From Bertie Bott’s Every-Flavour Beans to Dumbledore’s half-moon spectacles and that iconic smudge of dirt on Ron Weasley’s nose, every single detail has been carefully crafted to evoke a world so convincing you feel you could reach through the screen and touch it.

There are also plenty of Quidditch moments — the striking black and red box for Harry’s Nimbus 2000, embroidered uniforms, and brooms with fanned-out bristles. Even a Christmas snowball fight and Hagrid’s snow angel made the cut.

## A Faithfully Reimagined Wizarding World

The series is structured as a faithful retelling of J.K. Rowling’s novels, with each season adapting one book from the seven-part saga — giving stories like *Harry Potter* the breathing room a film never could. [NPR](https://www.npr.org/2026/03/25/nx-s1-5760799/stephen-colbert-lord-of-the-rings)

Rowling’s novels have sold more than 600 million copies worldwide, and this adaptation is being treated with the full weight of that legacy. The [Harry Potter](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Potter) universe is one of the most successful fictional franchises in history, and the HBO series looks set to honour it in every frame.

*Succession* writer Francesca Gardiner serves as showrunner and executive producer, while *Game of Thrones* veteran Mark Mylod directs multiple episodes.
