1. In Haryana, 9.5% of voters cast ballots as of nine in the morning. While the Congress is expecting to return to power in the state after a ten-year absence, the incumbent BJP is aiming for a hat-trick. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), Congress, and Azad Samaj Party (ASP) are the other prominent contenders.
2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the BJP’s campaign, speaking at four rallies and criticizing the Congress on a number of subjects, notably the Ram temple controversy, and accusing them of entwining every significant national issue.
3. In addition, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi spoke at numerous public gatherings, predicting a “Congress storm” in Haryana, a government led by his party that would be pro-poor and pro-farmers, and the opening of “mohabbat ki dukan” in every community throughout the state.
4. The BJP is not running for the Sirsa seat, where Haryana Lokhit Party leader Gopal Kanda is running for reelection, while the Congress gave the Bhiwani assembly seat to its INDIA bloc partner Communist Party of India (Marxist), or CPI(M).
5. A direct contest between the BJP and the Congress is anticipated in the majority of seats. The BJP has nominated Arti Rao, whose father Rao Inderjit Singh is a Union Minister, from Ateli in Mahendragarh, while Bhavya Bishnoi, the grandson of former Chief Minister Bhajan Lal, has been fielded from the Adampur segment in Hisar.
