Ahead of England’s European qualifier with Italy tonight, BetVictor caught up with brand ambassador Harry Redknapp to get his view on the current crop of English talent.
The 76-year-old is a massive fan of the Three Lions and he’s adamant that this group of players have enough quality to go all the way at a major tournament, claiming that what’s been achieved so far is “not good enough”.
Harry Redknapp: England have “got to win something” & semi-final appearances are “not good enough”
“I think the expectations come when you look at the squad and the quality of the players. Foden, Bellingham, Rice, Harry Kane; these players are going to walk into any team in the world. They’re just an incredible group of players.”
“John Stones has been fantastic, we’ve got Trent (Alexander-Arnold) and Reece James, top players. We’ve got about five right backs that would get in any team in the world. Our squad is just full of quality players that should have won something by now and certainly, I think we need to win the next tournament.”
“People say if we get to the semi’s, it’s a success, but it’s not good enough with this group, you’ve got to win something. We had better players than Italy when they beat us in the Euro final. Their two centre halves who were about 80 between them. So yeah, I think it’s time we actually won a trophy.”
