West Ham United have agreed a deal with Manchester United to sign Harry Maguire on a permanent deal. The Hammers have sprung to life in the transfer market, after recently agreeing their first deal for Edson Alvarez from Ajax, having spent the first few months dormant in terms of incomings.
The two clubs have agreed a deal worth £30 million for the centre-back, who will be taking to a new challenge in the Premier League. His departure comes on the back of a tumultuous summer which has seen him stripped of the captaincy of the club, with Bruno Fernandes now the skipper of the first team.
Harry Maguire to sign for West Ham after Manchester United spell
The England international has made a number of high profile errors during his time with Manchester United. And it is safe to say that he hasn’t been able to live up to his price tag as the most expensive defender of all-time.
Harry Maguire made the move to United from Leicester City in 2019 for €87 million. His contract with the club runs out in 2025, and now seems like the time for the club to cash in on the 30-year-old.
The player’s transfer to West Ham United has now sparked speculation over new transfers in terms of central defence. Benjamin Pavard, Jean Clair Todibo and Edmond Tapsoba have now been rumoured as the potential options for the club.
They have already signed Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund this summer. And a new defender could now be on the cards for the Red Devils.
