Bayern Munich have finally completed the deal to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham. The Bavarians’ final offer worth €100 million upfront plus €20 million in add-ons has been accepted by the Premier League club. The player has agreed a four-year contract with Bayern, as the personal terms were agreed from the start of August.
Kane is now in Munich, after taking a flight from London. There were some last minute hiccups, with Spurs trying to tweak the structure at the last minute and rescinding permission for him to travel yesterday. The medical tests will now be completed to finalise the transfer, and it remains unclear whether the England captain will be available for the season opener against RB Leipzig in the DFB Super Cup.
Harry Kane to sign for Bayern Munich after lengthy Tottenham saga
Now aged 30, Kane has made a name for himself as the second highest scorer of all-time in the Premier League. He was on course to break Alan Shearer’s record for the most goals scored in the English top flight, but has now chosen to play for a club with a better chance of winning silverware in the form of Bayern.
The Bavarians had been lacking a prolific number 9 since the departure of Robert Lewandowski last summer. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting had a purple patch during the 22/23 season, but got injured during the last part of the campaign which left the club without a natural striker.
Owing to the striker’s deadly finishing, positioning and technical prowess, he is expected to flourish in the Bundesliga. In addition, he could also power Bayern to a seventh Champions League title this summer if he is able to find his footing at the club quickly.
