Harry Kane has become the second-highest Premier League goalscorer of all-time with his match-winning goal against Crystal Palace. Tottenham returned to winning ways with their 1-0 result over Palace, their first in four games.

The England captain now has 209 goals from 317 games in the Premier League. Only Alan Shearer is ahead of the Spurs number 10 in terms of goals scored in the English top flight with 260 to his name. Should Kane stay in England beyond this season, there is a very good chance he could surpass the legendary striker and make the record his own by the time he finishes his playing career.

Harry Kane overtakes Wayne Rooney to become second-highest Premier League goalscorer

The 29-year-old was found by Pedro Porro in the first half to open the scoring against Palace. And it proved to be the only goal of the game, helping Spurs earn a much needed win while also keeping a clean sheet.

Tottenham are now in sixth place, five points behind Liverpool in fifth. However, Brighton are right behind them on 55 points with three games in hand. As a result, they could slip down to seventh once the Seagulls have caught up.

Harry Kane’s future, on the other hand, remains a topic of intense speculation. The striker’s contract expires next summer and it doesn’t seem likely that he will renew. As a result, unless Spurs sell him for a fee this summer, he could walk out for nothing when his contract expires in 2024.

As of now, Chelsea, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are the most strongly linked with the forward.
