Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp introduced their inaugural joint project, the Harley-Davidson X440 motorcycle, on July 3rd. This impressive vehicle combines American strength with Indian engineering expertise. The launch of the Harley-Davidson X440 is a groundbreaking moment, as it becomes the first high-end motorcycle to be released under the licensing agreement between these two brands. Production will take place at the Garden Factory in Neemrana, Rajasthan.
After its official unveiling, numerous Harley enthusiasts took to Twitter to express their reactions. One user commented, “Initially, I thought Hero-Davidson lost to Bajaj-Triumph, but it seems that these new ventures will expand the market for mid-range bikes in India instead of competing directly.”
Another user shared, “Hero MotoCorp entered India’s growing market for premium lifestyle motorcycles by introducing the Harley Davidson X440, a completely indigenous 440cc motorcycle created in collaboration with the esteemed Milwaukee-based motorcycle manufacturer.”
What Sets the Harley-Davidson X440 Apart from Other Motorcycles?
At the heart of the X440 lies a formidable 440cc oil-cooled, long-stroke BSVI (OBD II) and E20 compliant engine, a first for Hero MotoCorp. This powerhouse generates an exhilarating 27bhp of power and an impressive 38Nm of torque. The engine comes with an assist and slipper clutch, providing accurate control, and is combined with a highly responsive 6-speed gearbox.
Impressive Features
Furthermore, the Harley-Davidson X440 boasts a range of features. It includes a steel trellis frame, a 43mm USD fork, and twin shock absorbers. Providing a balanced and assured riding experience, this motorcycle has a seat height of 805mm and weighs 190.5kg. It is equipped with diamond-cut alloy wheels that showcase the new MRF Zapper Hyke rubber. The 320mm front rotor, combined with dual-channel ABS, ensures reliable and precise braking performance.
The Harley-Davidson X440 is available in three variants: Denim, Vivid, and Xs440. The Denim variant features wire-spoke rims and minimalist badging, available in a Mustard paint color with spoke wheels. In the Vivid variant, alloy wheels are provided, and there is a choice of dual-tone paint options available, including ‘Metallic Thick Red’ and ‘Metallic Dark Silver’. On the other hand, the Xs440 variant stands out with its diamond-cut alloy wheels, machined engine cooling fins, and vibrant color TFT dash. This dash comes with Bluetooth connectivity, allowing for seamless navigation and receiving notification alerts. This variant is presented in a Denim Black color tone with 3D branding and premium finishes.
