Hannibal Mejbri has completed a loan move to Sevilla from Manchester United. The player has not been called up to the Tunisia squad for AFCON 2024, meaning he is available to play right away. The midfielder becomes the latest to leave the Red Devils on loan during the January transfer window, after Donny van de Beek and Jadon Sancho.
Mejbri will wear the number 46 shirt at his new club, and his contract has the option to make the loan move permanent for €20 million. Manchester United have included a buyback clause in his contract valued at €35 million, which can be triggered in the future.
Hannibal Mejbri completes loan move to Sevilla
The youngster has shown flashes of brilliance during his time with the Manchester United first team. However, opportunities have been very limited for him due to the competition in midfield. As a result, he has chosen to move on from Old Trafford in search of more game time.
And at a club like Sevilla, he could hone his skills further to build on the potential he has shown this far.
After Hannibal Mejbri, Manchester United could loan out Facundo Pellistri with the Uruguayan also not receiving much game time under Erik Ten Hag. Alejandro Garnacho has broken into the first team, and with Antony, Marcus Rashford, Amad Diallo and Antony Martial all competing for game time, it will be difficult for Pellistri to be given many opportunities.
As a result, he could also follow the other players out on a temporary move for the second half of the season.
