Lewis Hamilton won the 100th Grand Prix of his career in the form of the Russian Grand Prix, as an entertaining race unfolded for all watchers.

Lando Norris took the pole position in the race after coming second to teammate Daniel Ricciardo last time. However, he was pressured heavily by Hamilton and finished in seventh place. Carlos Sainz of Ferrari completed the podium with a third place finish.

The weather was one of the key factors that influenced the race. Hamilton chose to go inside for intermediates after being initially resistant to the idea. On the other hand, Norris chose to stay out on the slicks. And the decision from Mercedes proved to be the tipping point to win the race.

“You know, I could only ever have dreamed of still being here and having this opportunity to be able to win these races and get to drive with such phenomenal talents this late in my career, and to continue to be building with Mercedes – of which I’m so proud of everything we’ve done, not only on track, also off, said Hamilton.

“This is just a special moment for everyone that’s been a part of it. I’ve had the most incredible team,” he added.

Verstappen finished in second place behind his rival of the season, and marked a remarkable recovery from 20th place. He was handed a three-place penalty for the crash in the previous race with Hamilton, but his prowess wasn’t enough to get the better of the British racer. The seven-time world champion is now ahead of Verstappen in the standings by two points.
