Halo Infinite Campaign DLC by 343 Studios turns out to be just a rumor in the end

Halo Infinite’s campaign DLC ambitions may have been purely speculative. Halo Infinite is one of the best Xbox Series X exclusives to date, as well as one of the best Halo games since Bungie left the franchise. 343 Industries has gone through a lot of growing pains with this series, but Halo Infinite was where it finally started to get it right. The campaign was fantastic, and the multiplayer was entertaining, but there were issues with the progression systems and how content was distributed.

Unfortunately, Microsoft laid off thousands of employees earlier this week, and 343 Industries was particularly hard hit. Among those laid off was creative director Joseph Staten, who went to work for Xbox’s publishing division.

Rumors began to circulate that 343 Industries would abandon its long-rumored campaign DLC for Halo Infinite in favour of focusing almost entirely on multiplayer.

That may not be entirely correct. According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier and Windows Central’s Jez Corden, the campaign DLC was not scrapped because it never existed in the first place.

This long-awaited expansion was reportedly never taken any further than some internal studio discussions, and even then, it’s unclear how official those discussions were. In any case, it appears that there will be no major changes to Halo Infinite’s campaign in the future.

Halo Infinite is expected to continue to receive support in the future and there have also been rumours of a battle royale coming to the game, but it’s unclear if that’s still happening, and if it is, we have no idea when we can expect it.
