Hakim Ziyech in talks to join Ajax in 2022 as Antony replacement

Hakim Ziyech

Hakim Ziyech could return to Ajax this summer, with the player travelling to Amsterdam recently. He had a meeting with Klaas Jan Huntelaar, the sporting director of the club, to potentially discuss a transfer back to the club from Chelsea.

Recent reports have suggested that Ziyech could be the replacement for Antony if he leaves for Manchester United. The Brazilian has been pushing for a move to Old Trafford, and was left out of the squad for their recent game against Sparta Rotterdam as well.

Hakim Ziyech could be Ajax’s Antony replacement

Been told Hakim Ziyech met again with Ajax director Huntelaar today. Direct discussions taking place, but now waiting to clarify Antony’s future. 🚨⚪️🔴 #Ajax

Since making the move to Chelsea under Frank Lampard, Hakim Ziyech has only shown glimpses of his capabilities at Ajax. The Moroccan has failed to lock down a starting spot under Thomas Tuchel as well, which adds to increased frustration for him.

There were talks over a move to AC Milan earlier in the transfer window, but they have since died down. The Rossoneri have recruited Charles De Ketelaere from Club Brugge to operate in a similar role instead.

As a result, Ziyech has been left out of the squad with his profile not suited to the style of play. So, should Ajax finally decide to sell Antony in the coming days, they could have a ready replacement in one of their former players. All they will have to do is agree a deal with Chelsea for the move to go through.
