Disney+ Hotstar has dropped a new trailer for the drama film Gulmohar. The story of the film has been revolved around the three generations of a family who have all drifted apart over the years. Rahul V Chittella has helmed the story of the film.
After a long we are going to see Sharmila Tagore as the matriarch, Kusum Batra, the story is really little exceptional. In this film, The lady Kusim Batra will take the decision to sell the family home in Gulmohar and relocate to Pondicherry. Her announcement causes a ripple in the family, leaving her son Arun unsettled and her grandson seeking to be more independent.
In the video, Manoj asked Sharmila, “Sharmila ji, how are you feeling coming back after 12 years.” Sharmila replied that she was feeling a little ‘nervous’. When Manoj praised the actor and called her ‘OG’ and ‘Legend’, Sharmila replied, “I am not a legend. In this film, I have played the role of your mother so thodi bohot acting mujhe bhi aati hai.”
Earlier, Manoj Bajpayee shared the poster of Gulmohar on his social media handles with the caption, “Family se milane ka vaada kiya tha, toh nibhana bhi padega na? Aa rahi hai Batra Family on 3rd March. Gulmohar only on @disneyplushotstar (Promised you that you will meet my family, now I have to fulfill it.
Rahul, who is making his directorial debut with Gulmohar, said in a statement, “Times are changing, people’s outlook towards the world and especially towards their families is also constantly changing and evolving. My co-writer, Arpita Mukherjee, and I were keen to explore this reality in a narrative format. The movie is for audiences of all ages to experience love and togetherness with our Batra family. Sharmila ji, Manoj Bajpayee, Simran, Suraj Sharma, Kaveri Seth, Utsavi Jha looked and felt like a real family. Gulmohar is created with a lot of love and hopes the audiences embrace it with the same love on Disney+ Hotstar.”
Gulmohar also stars Simran as Arun’s wife along with other cast members Amol Palekar, Kaveri Seth, and Utsavi Jha. Along with the distant father-son relationship, the trailer also hints that a family secret about their late father’s will could break apart the family even more than the distance between Delhi and Pondicherry.
The screenplay of Gulmohar has been co-written by Arpita Mukherjee and Rahul, while the film’s score has been composed by Siddhartha Khosla. The Emmy-nominated composer has scored the music on the American shows This Is Us and Only Murders in the Building.
