The movie’s biggest draw has been China, where it earned $28 million. As a result, the global box office total for the film stands at $282 million. The film’s performance in the upcoming week will be crucial in determining whether it can conclude the franchise on a high note, particularly given its impressive 81% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The highest-grossing film of the year thus far is Super Mario Bros, which has earned $518 million domestically and $1.15 billion globally.
The Hindustan Times review of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 describes the film as a grand and fitting farewell, almost like a homage to and celebration of the franchise created by James Gunn. The review further praises Gunn’s work, stating that he delivers an immensely satisfying send-off to the beloved characters, who are fondly referred to as “everyone’s favorite bunch of jackasses standing in a circle.” It is worth noting that Gunn is now heading to run a rival studio.
