IPL 2023 has the first team to reach the playoffs, and it’s none but the defending champions, Gujarat Titans. Defeating SRH in Ahmedabad by 34 runs, GT finalized their entry into the playoffs with an assured top-two finish. SRH, on the other hand, has been eliminated from the tournament.

GT pulled a comfortable victory at home as they defeated the Orange army by 34 runs. Besides them qualifying for the playoffs as the first team, the 2016 champions are eliminated, too, from this edition.

Winning the toss, the visiting captain Aiden Markam sent the hosts to bat first, who put up 188 runs on the board. Thanks to Shubman Gill’s 58-ball 101 that helped the defending champions hammer a good score. Gill hit his maiden ton in IPL, and it was a glorious knock to watch.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was fantastic with the ball as he picked up five wickets, conceding just thirty runs in four overs.

SRH fell short by 34 runs

Coming down to chase a target close to 190, the visitor’s batting was shaky from the start. Losing six wickets in seven overs was already like taking a back seat while chasing a nearly 200-run target.

Heinrich Klaasen has shone again with the bat, hammering a 44-ball 64 with three sixes and four fours. However, with a lack of support from the other end, it wasn’t possible for him to win the match single-handedly.

The play-off race is getting exciting each day and the coming few weeks are going to be absolute stunners.

The final is scheduled at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on 29th May.
