The defending champions, Gujarat Titans, have once again punched their ticket to the finals of the Indian Premier League by defeating Mumbai Indians, this time at Qualifier 2. Credit goes to Shubhman Gill’s brilliant century, which helped GT to receive this win, and now they will lock horns with CSK at the finals.
The Match
Though Shubhman Gill wasn’t much aggressive at first, rather, he was playing decent when he started. Gradually he started to push his strike rate and eventually scored a total of 129 out of 60, which included 7 fours and 10 sixes. The next highest score was 43 of Sai Sudarshan, and Hrdik’s speedy 28 of 13 balls helped GT to reach a total of 233 for the loss of 3 wickets.
Things weren’t good for MI when they came to bat, as the skipper Rohit Sharma once again got out early, and Nehal Wadhera coming to open, wasn’t there for long either. Ishan Kishan faced an injury in this face; hence his concussion substitute, Vinshu Vinod, came in, but he, too, scored less. Tilak Verma scored a magnificent 43 off 14, and Suryakumar Yadav also made 61 of 38 but eventually got out, and GT bowlers ensured that the match didn’t get away from their hands. Credit goes to Mohit Sharma for his fifer and company.
GT to lock horns with CSK
With this win, GT will lock horns with CSK, and the winner of that match will decide the champion this season. On one side, there is MS Dhoni’s CSK, and another championship for them will be an absolute poetic justice for the former Indian captain, and on the other hand, there are the defending Champions GT, who will fight their level best to maintain their streak. It is to be seen who emerges victoriously in the final showdown.
