IPL 2023 has been incredible so far, with exciting run chases and defending throughout. However, match 48 went the complete opposite at Jaipur as the defending champions beat the defending runners-up in their home ground in a one-sided encounter.
RR skipper Sanju Samson decided to bat first after winning the toss. However, the powerhouse of batting with names like Jaiswal, Buttler, and Heytmyer failed miserably today. The skipper scored a decent 20 baal 30 with six and three fours. But, it wasn’t enough to help the hosts put up a big total on the board as they finished 118.
Rashid Khan was again brilliant with the ball as he picked up three crucial wickets. Noor Ahmed was great, too, as he picked up two wickets. Shami, Hardik, and Little picked up one wicket each.
Effortless chase by the defending champions GT
Coming down to chase the little target, GT put up an effortless show. The openers carried on with a seamless partnership before Gill was dismissed for 36. Then, as the skipper came in, it was a sensational inning to watch. He was criticized for his slow inning in their last game against Delhi. Pandya took a totally different approach in Friday’s game as he smashed three sixes and three boundaries to stay unbeaten for 39 off 15.
Opener Wriddhiman Saha was not out too for a well-made 41. Ashwin picked up the only wicket in GT’s inning.
With another two points in their cabin, GT strengthens their place in the playoffs, and the coming weeks of IPL are surely going to hold supreme excitement.
Rashid Khan was awarded the player of the match for once again an excellent contribution.
