Grimsby Town vs Manchester United: Manchester United’s Portuguese manager finds himself in an all-too-familiar Old Trafford predicament – early-season struggles that have the fanbase reaching for their calculators to work out how many points they’re already behind the title pace.

After watching his team stumble to a **disappointing 1-0 home defeat against Arsenal** and then grind out an uninspiring **1-1 draw at Fulham on Sunday**, Amorim knows the pressure cooker is already starting to whistle. Two games in, and the same old questions are being asked: Is this United team good enough? Can this manager turn things around?

But if Amorim thought his problems couldn’t get any worse, Tuesday’s EFL Cup second-round trip to **Blundell Park** is lurking like a potential banana skin.

**Grimsby Town – yes, the Mariners – are flying high in League Two.** Sitting pretty in fourth place with three wins and two draws from their opening five matches, they’re exactly the kind of lower-league side that dreams are made of. For them, anyway.

The clubs haven’t faced each other since **1948** – back when rationing was still a thing and television was a luxury few could afford. Now, 77 years later, Grimsby have a golden opportunity to etch their name into football folklore by dumping the mighty Manchester United out of the cup.

For Amorim, it’s the kind of fixture that can define a manager’s early tenure. Win convincingly, and it’s just another step on the road to recovery. But lose? The headlines write themselves, and the hot seat gets a few degrees warmer.
