Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel has committed his future to the Westfalenstadion by signing a new contract with the club. He has added two more years to his deal, extending it until 2028.
The renewal has been officially confirmed by the club, and sees the player commit to Dortmund amidst interest from Chelsea and Bayern Munich. He has solidified his place as one of the most important members of the squad, and has helped create a rock solid defence for the Black and Yellow club.
While other important players have left to sign for big clubs, Kobel has proven his devotion to the club by signing a new deal and turning down a number of approaches this summer.

“I’m a totally emotional guy, Dortmund is a crazily emotional footballing location and Signal Iduna Park is an incredibly emotional stadium. I think we’re simply a really good fit. Beyond that, I have the feeling that I’m simply not finished here yet! This team has the potential to win titles if every individual works hard on themselves. In the coming years, I want to be one of the players in our squad who leads the way every day so that we can celebrate something big together,” the 25-year-old told Dortmund’s official website.
After tying down Gregor Kobel with a long-term contract, Borussia Dortmund are expected to turn their attention to an extension for Marco Reus with the veteran keen on staying at the club.
